Manhunt underway for suspect linked to multiple break-ins in central Sask.

Saskatchewan RCMP are investigating a series of break and enters reported across several communities in central Saskatchewan earlier this month.

Officers responded to multiple reports of break-ins between Jan. 5 and Jan. 8 in the Craik, Biggar and Unity detachment areas. 

Investigators determined that several businesses and community buildings in Davidson, Perdue, Biggar and Unity were targeted during the four-day period.

RCMP said property damage was reported at the locations as a result of forced entry, and cash was reported stolen.

Police are working to determine whether some or all of the incidents are connected. As part of the investigation, officers canvassed areas surrounding the break-in locations for potential witnesses and surveillance footage.

Unity RCMP collected video footage of an individual believed to be male attempting to break into a building on 1 Avenue South in Unity at about 11:30 p.m. on Jan. 7. Police say the suspect did not gain entry to the building. 

The suspect was described as wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, gloves and a face covering. Police say the individual has a distinctive walk, taking short strides and slightly favouring his right foot. 

Shortly afterward, a photo believed to show the same suspect was captured during a break and enter at a community building on seventh Ave. E. in Unity.

Anyone with information about the break-ins or who recognizes the suspect is asked to contact police at 310-RCMP. Anonymous tips can also be submitted through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or online.
