North Stars sign a pair of hometown prospects for the 2026-27 SJHL season

The Battlefords North Stars have announced the signings of 2008-born defencemen Millar Kramer and Lukamus Lehman for the upcoming 2026-27 SJHL season.

Both Kramer and Lehman currently occupy the locker room just down the hall at the Access Communications Centre with the Battlefords Stars AAA team.

In 33 contests with the Stars so far this season, Lehman has 25 points (8G-17A), while Kramer has 13 points (3G-11A).

Both players have gotten into one game each with the North Stars this year as affiliate players, impressing North Stars head coach Connor Logan in different ways.

“Lukamus is a two-way guy, can play kind of all situations. Does a good job moving the puck. I like his first pass. He’s got a great shot, does a good job in the trenches there,” said Logan. “Then Millar, great skater, big, uses his size and skating well. That combination is really hard to play against at our level, especially if you use it properly. I just think the game, the way it’s played in that north-south style, he’ll do a good job with the skating there.”

The North Stars and AAA Stars do a lot of work together, which has benefited both organizations according to AAA Stars head coach Martin Smith.

“Anytime we can develop players and move them on, I think it’s great for our program, and it helps the junior program as well,” said Smith. “When you have players like Lukamus and Millar that grew up watching the North Stars and they wanted to make that next jump to the North Stars and having them sign with the junior club for next year, I think it’s a boost for their confidence.”

Logan has praised Smith’s work with these players along with the rest of the Stars.

“He’s done a great job with the AAA’s and really developed some guys and there’s some good prospects on that AAA stars team that are in our pipeline that we’re happy with.”

Both Kramer and Lehman are from North Battleford. Hometown talent is something that the North Stars lack this year, and Logan is excited to get some Battlefords players in the locker room next year.

“It’s a crucial component to Saskatchewan hockey, and I think it’s what makes the emotion in this league so high. The passion from the fans is so high, the support. So, it’s crucial to have Saskatchewan kids and even better if you can get some high-end local guys.”

With the signings of Lehman and Kramer, they are set to join a defensive corps for the 2026-27 season alongside Linken Fisher, Will Kirwan, Keegan Nash, Alex Coventry, Owen Dyck, and Austin Garrett.
