RCMP seize firearm, drugs from man following gunshot on MSFN
A 32-year-old man from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation is facing half a dozen charges after shooting a gun on the reserve.
Loon Lake RCMP say the incident happened on Jan. 16 at around 9:40 a.m., when officers recieved a report of a gunshot. Upon arriving to the area, police did not locate any injured persons, but did come across a man walking in the community holding a firearm.
The man threw away the firearm when officers approached him, where he was arrest without incident. Police recovered the firearm, which had the barrel sawed-off, and also seized ammunition, approximately 167 grams of methamphetamine, 67 grams of cocaine, trafficking paraphernalia and cash.
The man, who was not named, was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine), possession for the purpose of trafficking (methamphetamine), possession of property obtained by crime less than $5,000, unlicensed possession of a loaded prohibited weapon with ammunition, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, and unauthorized possession of a weapon.
