Jan 13, 2026 | 2:41 PM

A 29-year-old man is expected to recover after being shot during an attempted robbery late Sunday night in Lloydminster, RCMP say.

Police were called to the area of 47 Avenue near 27 Street at about 11:40 p.m. on Jan. 11 after receiving a report of a shooting.

Emergency responders found the victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. He was taken to hospital, where he is expected to recover.

The man reported being outside when he was approached by a lone suspect who demanded the keys to his vehicle. A struggle followed, during which the victim was shot.

The suspect then fled the scene in a dark-coloured SUV.

Police described the suspect as a heavy-set male with a medium complexion, approximately 5-8.

The Lloydminster RCMP General Investigations Section has taken over the case.

“This is a troubling crime,” said Jerry Nutbrown, the detachment commander for Lloydminster RCMP. “Know that all available resources are being utilized to locate this dangerous suspect.”
