Advance polls open Wednesday for North Battleford 2026 byelection

Jan 12, 2026 | 2:36 PM

Voting dates are quickly approaching for North Battleford’s upcoming municipal byelection, with residents set to choose one councillor from a field of five candidates.

The profiles of the five candidates:

Advance polls will be held Wednesday, Jan. 14 from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday, Jan. 17 from noon to 6 p.m. Byelection day voting will take place Wednesday, Jan. 21 from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. All polls will be located at the Chapel Gallery.

The byelection will use an electronic registered voters list compiled by Elections Saskatchewan. Voters who need to update information such as their name or address will be able to make revisions at the polls with Elections NB staff.

Those wishing to confirm their information on the voters list may contact the returning officer at City Hall.

Voters must bring one piece of identification to the polls. Under The Local Government Elections Act, eligible voters must be at least 18 years old as of Jan. 21, be a Canadian citizen, have lived in Saskatchewan for at least six months prior to the byelection date and have been a resident of North Battleford for at least three consecutive months.

People who have owned assessable land registered in their own name — not as a corporation or business — for at least three consecutive months prior to the byelection are also eligible to vote.

Ballots will be counted by hand following the close of polls at 8 p.m. on Jan. 21. Election officials anticipate the counting process will take between one-and-a-half and two hours, depending on voter turnout.

Results will be released to candidates, their authorized agents, the media and the public once the returning officer declares the outcome.
