The Battlefords Agency Tribal Chiefs (BATC) says Little Pine First Nation has formally joined its collective as a sovereign partner.

In a statement issued Friday, BATC said the move strengthens a shared voice and reflects a commitment to support First Nations people, lands and future generations.

“Little Pine First Nation joins this table as an equal Nation, bringing its own governance, leadership, and vision to our collective work,” it stated.

The original seven First Nations represented by BATC include Sweetgrass, Red Pheasant, Mosquito Grizzly Bear’s Head Lean Man, Moosomin, Saulteaux, Ahtahkakoop and Stony Knoll.

The organization says it recognizes the leadership of Little Pine First Nation along with its Elders, Knowledge Keepers, youth and community members, and looks forward to moving ahead grounded in respect, unity and self-determination.

“We thank Little Pine First Nation for choosing to walk alongside us and look ahead with purpose and shared responsibility.”
