Battlefords North Stars prepare for triple header over the weekend

Dec 5, 2025 | 11:02 AM

It’s a busy weekend for the Battlefords North Stars, who play back-to-back-to-back games over the weekend for the first time this season. The North Stars are aiming for their sixth win in seven games when they host the Estevan Bruins tonight.

In their last game, the North Stars won 2-1 in overtime against the Melville Millionaires. Finlay Klippenstein added to his team-leading goal total of 10 with the game-winning goal. Anthony Campbell also added a tally in that game.

The North Stars took on the Bruins earlier this season, winning both games they played in Estevan by scores of 7-5 and 8-4. North Stars forward Adam Konowalchuk shined in that series with four goals in the two games, including a hat trick on Oct. 25.

In that series, Bruins forward Ewan Rennie had four points in two games, scoring twice on Oct. 24.

Rennie leads the league in points with 42 (19g, 23a), while Bruins forward Rylan Williams is tied for second in the SJHL with 39 points (16g, 23a). It’s Williams’ first time playing back in North Battleford since being traded to the Bruins in the offseason.

While the North Stars are looking for their second straight win, the Bruins are aiming for their third consecutive victory after beating the Humboldt Broncos in a pair of games last weekend.

After hosting the Bruins, the North Stars are heading down to Weyburn to take on the league’s 2nd place Red Wings.

The Red Wings took their last game 3-2 in overtime at home against the Yorkton Terriers on Dec. 2. Luke Schraeder scored a highlight goal in overtime, sliding the puck into the net with one hand on his stick after falling to the ice. Schraeder had two goals in that game, while his brother Dion had the other tally for the Red Wings.

Leading the way in points for Weyburn is Lucas Schmid with 28 points (15g, 15a) in 20 games, while Josh Sale is right behind him with 27 points (11g, 16a) in 24 games.

On the North Stars side, the team lead in points is a three-way tie betwee Anthony Campbell, Josh Knittig and Gavin Granger who all have 21 points apiece.

For tonight’s game against the Bruins, the Ultra Print pregame show begins at 7 p.m., while Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey begins at 7:30 p.m. on CJNB/CJNS.
