Four people are facing firearms and property-related charges after RCMP located a stolen vehicle in a bank parking lot in Lloydminster.

Members of the General Investigation Section found the vehicle parked outside the Bank of Montreal on Nov. 21. Officers contained the vehicle and arrested four people without incident. A search of the vehicle later uncovered a loaded firearm.

The group is charged with several offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, careless use of a firearm and possession of property obtained by crime.

Additional charges include unsafe storage of a firearm, possession of a firearm with a tampered serial number and possession of a weapon contrary to a court order.

RCMP say all four were brought before a justice of the peace and released on conditions. Two of the accused are scheduled to appear in Lloydminster provincial court on Dec. 9, while the other two are set to appear on Dec. 16.

“The Lloydminster RCMP remain committed to proactively identifying stolen property and addressing firearms-related offences to enhance community safety.”

Anyone with information related to this incident, or any other criminal activity, is encouraged to contact the Lloydminster RCMP or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
