North Stars ready for a home-and-home weekend against the Humboldt Broncos

Nov 21, 2025 | 11:25 AM

After taking down the Nipawin Hawks last weekend, the Battlefords North Stars who sit third in the Nutrien Division (9-5-2-2) are hosting the Humbolt Broncos (13-6-0-1) who sit right above them in a divisional matchup.

The North Stars have won two consecutive games and are looking for three straight for the first time this season. Meanwhile, the Broncos are trending the other way as they have lost three in a row after falling to Kindersley in their last game, and Flin Flon in the two games prior.

The North Stars have the newest member of the squad, forward Owen Nelson, coming into the lineup. Nelson was acquired by the North Stars from the Melfort Mustangs last week. Battlefords will also be getting Sebastian Miles back into the lineup after he served a one-game suspension for a major checking from behind penalty against the Kindersley Klippers.

Humboldt has a couple of players serving suspensions. Ryder Knutson is serving his second of a two-game suspension for fighting at the end of the game against the Flin Flon Bombers. Oliver Phillips will not be in the lineup at all this weekend for the Broncos. He is serving a three-game suspension for a second fight in the same stoppage of play, also against Flin Flon.

Finlay Klippenstein comes into the game on a three-game goal streak. His six goals in the year are tied for third on the team. Josh Knittig leads the team in goals with eight.

The team lead in points is a three-way tie between Knittig, Anthony Campbell and Gavin Granger, who all have 19 points each.

On Humboldt, Jacob Strizzi is leading the way in goals and points with 18 goals and 33 points. The next highest point getters on the team are Connor Miller and Jeter Corte with 19.

As the SJHL Movember campaign continues, fans at the Access Communications Centre will have an opportunity to buy a puck and participate in the puck toss during the second intermission. Half of the proceeds will go to the winner, while the other half will be donated to Movember for men’s health.

Fans can also stick around after the game for the Kramer Trailer Sales shootout challenge.

The Ultra Print Services pregame show will start at 7 p.m., while the Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey begins at 7:30 p.m. on CJNB/CJNS.
