RCMP investigating separate incidents near Battlefords

Nov 8, 2025 | 12:23 PM

Saskatchewan RCMP are investigating a pair of separate incidents that happened on two First Nations near the Battlefords.

The first began on Oct. 28, when Battlefords RCMP received a report of a theft from a home in the Summerfield Beach area, where it was determined a dirt bike was stolen.

A week later, on Nov. 4, Battlefords RCMP received a similar report of a theft from a home in the Summerfield Beach area, only this time several tools from a vehicle were stolen.

The North Battleford Crime Reduction Team – Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF) investigated the thefts and on Nov. 6, alongside RCMP officers and their Critical Incident Response Team, they executed a search warrant at a home on Moosomin First Nation in relation to the stolen property.

There, they found the stolen dirt bike and tools, and also seized ammunition. Police arrested six people at the scene, one man and five women.

However, following investigation, 26-year-old Andy Swiftwolfe from Moosomin First Nation was the only one charged, and is now facing two counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000 and one count of weapons possession contrary to order.

He appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on Nov. 7.

Meanwhile, in the second incident, Battlefords RCMP are hoping to confirm the well-being of a person who was shot on Mosquito, Grizzly Bear’s Head, Lean Man First Nation.

Police first received a report on Nov. 5 at around 7:10 p.m., explaining that a shooting had happened on the reserve. Investigation found that an “interaction” took place in a parking lot outside a community facility between a man and an occupant in a green Jeep Wrangler.

During their interaction, one of the occupants of the green Jeep shot the man, before he got into a tan-coloured Jeep and they both sped away.

Shortly after, another interaction took place between the two Jeeps, this time in a business parking lot along Highway #4. A firearm was discharged from the tan-coloured Jeep before they left the parking lot.

The injured man from the tan-coloured Jeep was brought to hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening and was later released. The man and a woman in the Jeep with him were arrested on outstanding warrants from Battlefords RCMP.

No charges have been laid at this time.

RCMP continue to investigate and are working to locate the occupants of the green Jeep. Police believe a second person may have been injured in the shooting and are working to locate them to confirm their well-being. The Jeep is described as a dark green 2011 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited SUV.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to contact RCMP at 310-RCMP (7267) or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
