North Stars look to end losing streak at home against the Yorkton Terriers

Nov 7, 2025 | 11:36 AM

The Battlefords North Stars, sitting third in the Nutrien division, are set for a two-game weekend series at home when they face the Yorkton Terriers, who also sit third in their Bunge division.

The North Stars (6-4-2-2) are currently on a three-game losing streak which started in Yorkton on Halloween night.

Last week, the North Stars fell 7-2 to the Terriers when Cash Lanigan had a hat trick for the Terriers, and Jye Zawastky added two goals of his own.

On Tuesday, they lost 7-6 in overtime to the Nipawin Hawks which marked their second straight overtime loss. Finlay Klippenstein had two goals in the third period. Anthony Campbell and Josh Knittig had three points each.

Despite the loss, the North Stars powerplay converted on both opportunities they had, with Klippenstein and Carter Geysen getting on the board during the man advantage. It was a positive sign for the special team that was previously struggling, going 1/9 in their previous two contests.

The North Stars will have Linken Fisher back in the lineup after missing the defenceman in their last game. Fisher was with team SJHL at the Western All-Star Challenge. He was held pointless in the first game against team MJHL and got two assists in the second contest.

Since their last game, the North Stars dealt forward Braden Nienaber to the Whitecourt Wolverines of the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) for a player development fee.

The Terriers (9-7-0-1) won their last game, 6-2 over the La Ronge Ice Wolves who sit fourth in the UPL division. Zawatsky had two goals in the game to bring his season total up to nine.

If the North Stars get two wins against the Terriers over the weekend, they would pass them in the standings to move to seventh place overall in the league. The Ultra Print Services pregame show will begin at 7:00 pm while the Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey broadcast starts at 7:30 on CJNB/CJNS.

The Saturday game on Nov. 8 will begin at 2:00 p.m. on 93.3 Beach Radio, with the pregame show starting at 1:30.
