North Stars fall flat to start road trip, lose 7-2 to the Yorkton Terriers

Oct 31, 2025 | 11:51 PM

The Battlefords North Stars failed to get a third straight win on the road, falling 7-2 to the Yorkton Terriers.

The North Stars weren’t able to make any sort of comeback bid against Yorkton after the Terriers took a 5-1 lead in the first period.

Cash Lanigan got on the board first for the Terriers, bringing the puck out from below the goal line and sliding the puck past Kaeden Serpa. Less than a minute later, Jye Zawasky got on the board before doubling down on the breakaway to make it 3-0 Terriers.

Linken Fisher got on the board for the North Stars with less than five minutes to go in the period, getting his own rebound before firing the puck past Terriers goaltender Callum Creig.

That goal seemed to give the North Stars a spark heading into the second period, but the Terriers got two goals in less than three minutes from William Leonard and Lanigan to make it 5-1 heading into the second.

Anthony Campbell was the lone goalscorer in the second period, taking a cross-ice pass from Josh Knittig and scored a one-timer to make it 5-2 Terriers.

The North Stars weren’t able to get on the board after that. Thomas Ries scored his sixth goal of the year about halfway into the period, and Cash Lanigan scored with less than three minutes left in the third period to complete the hat trick, and put a stamp onto a 7-2 Terriers victory.

Before the game, North Stars head coach Connor Logan talked about the importance of being ‘even keeled’ and not letting the emotions get to the best of them. This ended up being an issue for the North Stars who racked up 18 penalty minutes which included four roughing calls and two unsportsmanlike conduct penalties.

The North Stars will have an opportunity to get back into the win column on Saturday night when they visit the Melville Millionaires. The Ultra Print Services pregame show begins at 6:30 pm, with Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey starting at 7:00 pm on 93.3 Beach Radio.
