Viewing parties to be held at Rogers Centre for Games 3 and 4 of World Series

TORONTO — Viewing parties will be held at Rogers Centre when the Toronto Blue Jays hit the road for Games 3 and 4 of the World Series at Dodger Stadium, the team said Thursday.

The Sportsnet broadcast will play on the Toronto stadium’s videoboard with gates opening an hour before first pitch.

The Blue Jays will host the Dodgers for Game 1 on Friday night and Game 2 on Saturday night.

Gates for the watch parties will open an hour before the 8 p.m. ET start of Game 3 on Monday. The same timing setup will be used for Game 4 on Tuesday night.

Watch party tickets go on sale Friday morning for $15 on the Blue Jays website. Net proceeds will go to the Jays Care Foundation, the team said.

If Game 5 is necessary, it will also be played in Los Angeles. Games 6 and 7 would be played in Toronto if needed.

ROCK BASS

Somewhat lost in the shuffle of Toronto’s dramatic Game 7 comeback win over Seattle was the clean eighth inning thrown by Blue Jays right-hander Chris Bassitt.

Normally a starter, Bassitt was given the setup role ahead of closer Jeff Hoffman. He needed only 10 pitches to deliver a 1-2-3 frame for the hold in the high-leverage spot.

“When you go into the reliever side of it, I think you can uptick your stuff and things like that,” Bassitt said Thursday. “You don’t have to worry about facing a guy three times, you’ve only got to face him once.

“So you can give him your very, very best look knowing you’re only going to face him one time. You’re not trying to think two or three at-bats ahead and you’re more just in the moment — I’ve got to get you out.”

Manager John Schneider said it was “most likely” that Bassitt would remain in the bullpen for the World Series.

TOUCH ‘EM ALL

Thursday was the 32nd anniversary of Joe Carter’s World Series walkoff home run against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Carter went deep off Mitch (Wild Thing) Williams in Game 6 of the 1993 series to give the Blue Jays their second straight title.

Toronto beat the Atlanta Braves to win the Fall Classic in 1992.
