John Paul II Collegiate Soccer Provincials

John Paul II Soccer teams heading to provincials this weekend

Oct 23, 2025 | 4:42 PM

The Saskatchewan high school soccer provincials are being held on Oct. 24-25, and both the boys’ and girls’ soccer teams from John Paul II will be competing in the tournament. The boys’ team will be heading down to Regina, while the girls will play in Yorkton.

Both teams made the finals in their respective regional playoffs, but both fell in the final round. However, it was enough to qualify for the provincial championship.

In regionals, the boys’ team played against the Humboldt Hurricanes in the 4A region A semifinal matchup. They won that match 3-1 to advance to the finals against Chief John Keenatch. Unfortunately for the Crusaders, they fell 5-1 in the finals but still qualified for provincials. They will play against Regina Huda in the provincial semifinals at the University of Regina.

Regina Huda went 3-0 in their 4A region B tournament, taking down Regina Christian School, MJ Central, and Yorkton Sacred Heart on the way to the victory.

In the semifinals of the 4A region A tournament, the girls’ team played against Martensville. After going down 2-0 early, the girls put together a comeback victory and won it 3-2. They fell 5-0 in the finals to Valley Christian Academy but advanced to provincials.

The Crusaders girls’ team will play Regina Luther in the provincial semifinals. Regina Luther won the girls 4A region B tournament after beating Humboldt 14-0 in the semifinals, then taking down MJ Central 5-3 in the finals.

The girls could see the matchup as a revenge game, as they lost to Regina Luther 2-1 in the bronze medal matchup at provincials last year. It’s the boys’ first time going to provincials since 2021 when they won the bronze medal.

Both team’s matches are on Oct. 24. The boys match against Regina Huda at the University of Regina begins at noon, while the girls match facing Regina Luther

The boys’ semifinals game starts at noon against Regina Huda at the University of Regina, and the girls’ match begins at 2 pm when they face Regina Luther at Yorkton Sacred Heart.
