North Stars blanked 6-0 by the Humboldt Broncos on the road

Oct 11, 2025 | 11:13 PM

The second half of a home-and-home series between the Humboldt Broncos (7-4-0-0, 1st in Nutrien division) and Battlefords North Stars (3-3-0-1, 3rd in Nutrien division) ended up in a 6-0 victory for the Broncos. Humboldt goaltender Charlie Tritt had a 35-save shutout performance on the way to the win.

The Broncos got on the board when Ryder Knutson scored top shelf from the point on the powerplay, which was the eventual game winning goal. “They played their game, and we were playing from behind a whole lot.” said North Stars head coach Connor Logan after the game.

The Broncos got four goals in the first period from Knutson, Gabriel Kaminski, Avery Lowe and Jacob Strizzi. It was Kaminski’s first goal of the year, while Lowe had his second in two games and Strizzi brought his league leading goal total up to 13.

North Stars goaltender Steele Bass was pulled from the game in the first period after allowing the four goals on 27 shots, though Logan didn’t think the first period was on Bass. “It’s not his fault, they had a great start. He didn’t get (mhelp…he’ll have some great performances. He’s a good goalie.” said the North Stars coach.

Battlefords had a better second period than their first with 14 shots rather than eight and held the Broncos off the scoresheet. However, Battlefords couldn’t get one of their own and went into the third period down 4-0.

Humboldt added two more in the third period from Zach Bansley, who scored his first of the year as well as Avery Lowe with his second of the game and third in the home-and-home.

The North Stars penalty troubles continued to be an issue in the losses in this series, as four of the Broncos six goals came on the man advantage. The North Stars had five powerplay opportunities but failed to capitalize on all of them.

The North Stars now have the week off before heading to Warman to play two road games against the struggling Wolverines (1-6-0-1, 4th in Nutrien division) on Oct. 17 and 18. That will be the first of three road weekends for the North Stars, who aren’t back at home until Nov. 4 against the Nipawin Hawks.

When the North Stars play the Wolverines next Friday, Oct, 17 in Warman, the Ultra Print Services Pregame show start at 6:30 pm ST. Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey will begin at 7:00 on 93.3 Beach Radio.
