Constant Reminder band members killed in crash near Melfort
Saskatchewan RCMP are confirming a two-vehicle crash just outside of Melfort that claimed three lives – two men from James Smith Cree Nation (JSCN) and another man from Kinistino.
Emergency crews were called to the scene along Highway 3 at around 6:15 p.m. Thursday, where a truck and an SUV collided approximately two kilometres west of the city. The men from JSCN were 31 and 24 years old, and the man from Kinistino was 59.
Both drivers were pronounced deceased at the scene, and a passenger in the truck passed away in hospital.
The names of the deceased were not released by the RCMP, but family members who spoke to paNOW confirmed the men from JSCN to be Seth and Rene Constant, members of the well-known band Constant Reminder.
