Battlefords North Stars trade for defenseman Easton Adrian from Humboldt Broncos

The Battlefords North Stars have added some size to their defensive corps, getting 6’3″ defenseman Easton Adrian from the Humboldt Broncos. In exchange, the Broncos received a player development fee (PDF) and a fourth-round pick in the 2026 SJHL draft.

Adrian only got into seven games with the Broncos this season, with four points (1g, 3a). He played in the BCHL last season, spending time with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and the Blackfalds Bulldogs.

The newest North Star is familiar with the Battlefords. Adrian played for the Battlefords AAA Stars in the 2021-22 season where he had 35 points in 38 games.

North Stars head coach and general manager Connor Logan spoke about what Adrian adds to the team.

“(He) brings size, experience, a pedigree with him and obviously the prolific offensive defenseman. I think he’ll help our powerplay and play all situations.” said Logan. “He looked great (in practice) quarterbacking one of the units.”

The new North Star won’t waste any time facing Adrian’s former team as they play against the Broncos in a home-and-home series over the weekend, as talked about by Logan.

“We’ll see how he handles it. Some guys get fired up and are more emotional. Some guys are a little more even keeled when they get into those situations. I guess we’ll see if he has a chip on his shoulder leaving there and coming here, see the interaction first shift.”

Logan said that while the team’s smaller players do play with some grit, it doesn’t hurt to have more sizable players in the lineup.

“I think it does help…in different situations, boxing guys out, having a longer stick…there’s some situations to have some big bodies out there…it wasn’t the marquee reason we wanted to bring him in, but it was a great part of it.” said the North Stars coach.

The North Stars have their first game with Adrian against his new team on Oct. 10 in North Battleford when the North Stars face the Broncos. The Ultra Print Services pregame show starts at 7:00 pm, while Napa Auto Parts North Stars hockey begins at 7:30 on 93.3 beach radio.
