North Stars get home opener revenge, take down Klippers 6-3 on the road

Sep 21, 2025 | 1:06 AM

The Battlefords North Stars faced off against the Kindersley Klippers for the second straight night, this time on the road for the Klippers home opener where the North Stars took it 6-3.

Stars rookie Baden Pazdzierski got things going for the North Stars just over halfway through the first period when he walked into the zone and slid it through the five hole of Brett O’Halloran for his first goal in the SJHL. Eight seconds after Pazdzierski’s goal, Kaegan Lowe took a pass right in front and slotted it past Thomas Samborski to tie it up.

Kindersley took two penalties in 15 seconds, sending Battlefords to the 5-3 powerplay. They took advantage of that when a Gavin Granger pass to Raiden Zacharias hit a defenseman and went right to Anthony Campbell in front of the net and the North Stars captain put in his first of the season.

Campbell doubled down in the second period, taking a pass near the hashmarks and sniping it past O’Halloran to make it 3-1. Just over halfway through the game, Battlefords already got more goals past O’Halloran than the night prior.

Like Kindersley’s first goal, the Klippers answered back quick. Less than a minute after Campbell’s goal, Pryce Thiessen and Austin Osiowy went on a 2-on-1. Osiowy lost control of a deke before Thiessen picked the puck up and put it into the yawning cage to cut the lead to 3-2.

Things got interesting in the third period. Kobe Sawyer got a deflection in front to give Battlefords a two-goal lead. A few minutes later, Gavin Granger found the back of the net from the point to make it 5-2.

Frustration started to boil over for Kindersley and with about six-and-a-half minutes to go in the third, Cobe Perlinger and Anthony Campbell got pushing and shoving. Perlinger threw Campbell into the boards and multiple North Stars jumped in to defend their captain and a line brawl ensued.

The biggest fight of the brawl was between Gavin Granger and Russ Demo, who couldn’t be seperated even by two referees. Both men got five minutes for fighting and a game misconduct. Another line broke out a few minutes later, in the centre was 6’0 Braden Nienaber going toe to toe with 6’7 Cowyn Loney, they traded blows before eventually both going to the ground.

The fighting settled down after that. Owen Dyck scored his first SJHL goal with an empty netter to seal it. Lowe got one more with less than a minute to go, but it was too little too late and the North Stars took it 6-3 to split the home-and-home with the Klippers.

The North Stars have a couple of days off before hosting the Warman Wolverines on Tuesday night.
