North Stars give fans early look ahead of Sept. 19 home opener

After nearly seven months of waiting, the Access Communications Centre (ACC) will soon be filled with the sounds of the scraping of blades on the rink and the mix of cheers – and sometimes boos – from the crowd.

The Battlefords North Stars are set to open their exhibition schedule Sept. 7 with the annual Art Strueby Cup — a Black versus Silver intrasquad game, free to attend.

They’ll then host the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the AJHL on Sept. 10 at the ACC, followed by a Sept. 14 matchup against the Lloydminster Bobcats at Thunderchild First Nation. Both games have a $5 admission.

The tune-up skates set the stage for the SJHL regular season, which starts Sept. 19 when the North Stars welcome the Kindersley Klippers.

The 2025–26 campaign features 12 teams, including the expansion Warman Wolverines, with each team playing 56 games. The North Stars sit in the Nutrien Division alongside Humboldt, Kindersley and Warman.
