Team Sask has picked up multiple medals on Friday afternoon at the Canada Summer Games in St. Johns, NL, including one medal that was won by a resident of North Battleford.

Morgan Vaughan of North Battleford won a silver medal for Women’s Solo Artistic Swimming, becoming the first member of Team Sask to ever win a medal in the event. Vaughan said she felt like she was doing well as she was competing.

“I was feeling a little tired during it, but I was feeling super, like hyped and I’m just really trying to smile at the judges and really show my interest. And I knew that it was really going well.”

Vaughan is coached by Olympians and former Team Sask members Claudia Holzner and Allison McKenny, who said they were happy with Vaughan’s performance and are excited to see what she will do next.

Team Sask members who won medals alongside Vaughan were Tayen Werner of Langham who won gold in Women’s 400m, Olamide Olaloku of Saskatoon who won gold in Women’s Triple Jump, Hailey Woodhouse of Dilke who won silver in Women’s 400m, Williams Ogunnubi of Saskatoon who won bronze in Men’s 100m, Bradyn Giraudier of Assiniboia who won bronze in Men’s Special Olympics 100m and Ethan Hunter who won bronze in Men’s Individual Golf.

Team Sask has won 19 medals at the games so far this year. The Canada Summer Games will continue throughout Friday evening as well as on Saturday and Sunday.
