Dunning and Benoit claim Green Jacket at the annual Molson Open

The North Battleford Golf and Country Club hosted 120 golfers from across the province this past weekend for their highly anticipated annual two-man best ball tournament, the Molson Open.

The Championship Flight came down to an electrifying finish as Mitch Dunning and Tyler Benoit claimed the coveted Green Jackets after a dramatic playoff showdown. The duo carded a 66 in the first round and a 70 in the second, tying Loch and Weikle, who matched their 136 total with an impressive 65 on Day 1 and 71 on Day 2.

With the title on the line, both teams went toe-to-toe in a three-hole playoff that couldn’t produce a winner. It wasn’t until sudden death that Benoit and Dunning edged out their rivals, sealing the win.

Rounding out the top spots in the Championship Flight:

  • Third Place: Dubrey and Cobin (137)
  • Fourth Place: Whitfield and Strelau (138)

In the First Flight, Selander and Skotheim stormed to victory with a tournament best second round 64, paired with a 72 on Day 1 to finish at 136. Hot on their heels were:

  • Second Place: Thompson and Dupuis (72-67—139)
  • Third Place: Gabruch and Nagy (73-67—140)
  • Fourth Place: Sheard and Cobalt (72-70—142)

The Second Flight was a logjam at the top, with three teams finishing at 145 after two rounds:

  • First Place: Patola and Huntley (74-71) emerged victorious in a playoff.
  • Second Place: Grigo and Edwards (74-71), playoff runner-ups.
  • Third Place: Kutnikoff and Piett (74-71), third after playoff tiebreaker.
  • Fourth Place: Green and Dallyn (74-73—147)

In the Third Flight, the family duo of Friedrich and Friedrich captured the title with a 77-72—149 performance.

The Fourth Flight saw Wohlberg and Scheidl claim first with a two-day total of 151 (79-72), while in the Fifth Flight, Lampitt and Scherr topped the leaderboard with 159 (83-76).
