Beavers take third straight NSRBL title in extra-inning thriller
The North Battleford Beavers are North Saskatchewan River Baseball League (NSRBL) champions once again, this time in dramatic fashion.
The Beavers edged the Unity Cardinals 6-5 in extra innings in Game 3 of the NSRBL Finals on Wednesday night in Wilkie, capping off a back-and-forth battle to secure their third consecutive league title.
North Battleford came out swinging, plating four runs over the first three innings to grab an early 4-0 lead. But Unity, determined to keep their season alive, clawed their way back with two runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to knot the game at 4-4.
The Beavers briefly regained the lead in the top of the seventh, thanks to a clutch RBI single to make it 5-4, but the Cardinals answered right back in the bottom half to send the game to extra innings tied at five.
