Two men are facing dozens of charges following Saskatchewan RCMP investigations into drug trafficking in Martensville and North Battleford that led to the seizure of firearms, drugs, and cash.

On July 30, RCMP executed search warrants at three locations: a home on Heibert Crescent in Martensville, and a business near Highway 16 and Poundmaker Trail as well as a home on St. Laurent Drive, both in North Battleford.

Mounties said they seized four illegal firearms, three of them loaded, along with two replica firearms, 246 grams of suspected MDMA, 55 grams of cocaine, 36 grams of psilocybin and additional evidence of drug trafficking.

One man was arrested at the Martensville house, while another was taken into custody in a vehicle in North Battleford, where police said they seized a loaded semi-automatic rifle, a loaded sawed-off rifle, cocaine and cash.

“The SERT program, including the Battlefords CRT-GTF, continues to provide invaluable support to the detachment’s efforts in decreasing violent crime,” Insp. Ryan How, Battlefords RCMP Detachment Commander, said in a media release issued Tuesday.

“Our officers and residents are safer any time illegal guns and illicit drugs are seized.”

Brandon Corbeil, 32, of Martensville, and Brendon Brown, 34, of North Battleford, are each charged with six counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

Corbeil is also facing seven firearms-related charges, including possession of a weapon while prohibited, and one count of failing to comply with a release order. He was also wanted on several outstanding warrants from the Battlefords detachment for charges including assault and failure to comply with previous court orders.

Brown is facing 15 additional charges, including careless use of a firearm, unauthorized possession, and possession of stolen property under $5,000.

An woman arrested at the Martensville home was released without charges. RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.

They both appeared in North Battleford Provincial Court on July 31.

The investigation involved members from several RCMP teams including the Battlefords and Lloydminster Crime Reduction Teams, the Saskatchewan Trafficking Response Team, and detachments from Warman and Saskatoon.
