Three fires in six hours prompt safety warning from N. Battleford

The North Battleford Fire Department responded to three separate fires in a six-hour span on Monday, prompting a reminder from the city’s fire chief about simple precautions that can prevent serious damage.
“With the recent rise in structure fires, I am encouraging the public to be watchful when using cooking apparatuses, both indoor and outdoor, and to ensure that their dryer lint traps and dryer vent pipes are cleaned and free of debris in an effort to prevent accidental fires,” Fire Chief Lindsay Holm said in a release issued Tuesday morning.
“These situations are often preventable and can endanger the lives of our residents. I urge our community to take these simple precautionary measures in the interest of fire safety.”
The first call came just before 5 p.m., when the fire crews were dispatched to a structure fire on the 900 block of 105th Street. He said a working smoke detector and the quick actions of the resident helped minimize the impact of the blaze.
