Sask. musician Jake Vaadeland reaches top three in 2025 SiriusXM’s Top of the Country

Following his JUNO win two weeks ago, Jake Vaadeland is now one step closer to being named Canada’s top emerging country artist.

The Cut Knife-based musician has been named one of three finalists in the 2025 SiriusXM’s Top of the Country competition, making him the only artist representing Saskatchewan in this year’s national contest.

Vaadeland earned his spot after a nationwide vote by country music fans and industry experts. As a finalist, he will receive professional mentorship and perform at major music festivals across Canada—including a stop at Montréal’s LASSO festival—before taking the stage in Kelowna, B.C., for the Country Music Week this September.

The winner will be named during the live final at the music week and will take home a $25,000 grand prize. The two runners-up will each receive $10,000. The finale will be broadcast live on SiriusXM’s Top of the Country Radio.

Vaadeland is joined in the final three by Sully Burrows of Parry Sound, Ont., and Noeline Hofmann of Bow Island, Alta.

“This competition is a true testament to our shared commitment to homegrown music from coast to coast,” said Michelle Mearns, senior vice-president of programming and operations at SiriusXM Canada, in a statement issued Monday.

“We’re excited to see fans continue cheering on these artists as they race toward the finale.”

Before the final showdown, the artists will travel to Nashville in June for the CMA Fest, where they’ll connect with industry leaders and prepare for the next stage of their journey.

SiriusXM’s Top of the Country competition is held in partnership with the Canadian Country Music Association and its goal is to promote and elevate emerging Canadian country artists.
