The gym was buzzing with energy this past weekend at Unity Composite High School (UCHS) as athletes came to compete at the Battle West Junior Badminton Districts.

The event featured five different categories: Mixed Doubles, Girls Doubles, Boys Doubles, Girls Singles, and Boys Singles and saw competitors from North Battleford Comprehensive High School (NBCHS), Leoville Central, McLurg High School, Pelican Lake High School and UCHS battle it out for top honors.

NBCHS emerged as the consistent powerhouse throughout the weekend, winning a total of seven medals, including one gold. Their gold came in Mixed Doubles, where their top pair dominated the court to claim the top spot. Leoville earned the silver in the category, while NBCHS also added the bronze medal to its tally.

In Girls Doubles, it was McLurg who stole the spotlight with their duo showcasing their skills to win the gold. NBCHS followed closely behind with both the silver and bronze medal.

The Boys Doubles event saw a tough battle between Leoville and NBCHS, with Leoville ultimately taking the gold. NBCHS secured the silver, and Pelican Lake rounded out the podium with a bronze.

Then in the singles, there were some of the most competitive matches throughout the weekend. In both the Girls and Boys Singles, UCHS rose to the occasion and brought home the gold, proving them as the top in individual play. NBCHS remained consistent and added to their medal total, picking up the silver and bronze medals in both events, while Pelican Lake secured the silver in Boys Singles.
