Sharks historic season comes to an end
Last night, the Battlefords AAA Sharks historic season came to an end at the Battleford Arena as they lost 6-1 to the Saskatoon Stars in the final game of the Sask. Female U18 AAA Hockey League championship series.
The game got opened up by the Stars in the first period, just over three minutes in on a goal from Halle Duchene to take a 1-0 lead. The Sharks then answered back with a goal of their own with just about five minutes remaining in the period, coming Sarah McNabb to tie it 1-1 going into the second.
In the second period, the Sharks battled hard but couldn’t get on the board and it was the Stars who took the lead on another goal from Halle Duchene, making it 2-1 going into the third.
Then for the third, the Stars exploded with a fury of goals, getting three in a row to take a 5–1 lead. The Sharks tried to bounce back by pulling their goalie for an extra attacker but the Stars didn’t budge and eventually Saskatoon sealed the deal with an empty netter to take the 6-1 win and the league title.
