North Stars win streak comes to an end in Flin Flon

Mar 8, 2025 | 3:37 AM

Last night, the Battlefords North Stars saw their four game win streak come to an end as they lost 5-1 to the Flin Flon Bombers on the road.

In the first period, the North Stars saw struggles right out the gate as the Bombers opened up the scoring just six minutes in on a powerplay to take a 1-0 lead. As the period went on, Flin Flon continued to put pressure on Battlefords, outshooting them 27 to 5 and scoring two more goals to go up 3-0 going into the intermission.

For the second, it was more of the same as the Bombers continued to control the game and grabbed an early goal to extend their lead to 4-0.

Throughout the rest of the period, the North Stars did have some good chances but it didn’t result in any goals and the game went into intermission with the Bombers still leading.

Coming out for the third, the North Stars started to pick things up and scored a goal coming from Seth Dragan to avoid the shutout and make it 4-1. Unfortunately, that just wasn’t enough as the Bombers went on to score one more and seal the deal to take the game 5-1.

The North Stars got outshot 71 to 18, went 0/4 on the powerplay and stopped Flin Flon four out of seven times on the penalty kill.

Justen Maric stopped 42 out of 46 shots in the first two periods, while Connor Baumbach stopped 24 out of 25 shots in the third period.

Battlefords record is now at 27-21-3-2 on the season for 59 points, keeping them at 6th overall in the league.

The North Stars get back in action tonight as they take on the Bombers again with puck drop at 7:30 p.m.
