North Battleford residents asked to be careful amid quick thaw
The Director of Protective Services in North Battleford is asking residents to stay safe given the quick snow melt.
“While the community isn’t necessarily situated on a floodplain, the quick thaw of a large amount of snow can still leave homeowners susceptible to basement flooding,” said Chief Lindsay Holm via press release.
“We recommend that residents make an effort to clear snow and ice surrounding any basement windows to avoid any seepage into homes. This is also a good time for property owners to ensure sump pumps are in working order.”
The release spoke to this week’s roughly 30-degree swing in weather, and Holm recommend homeowners and residents should check roofs and vents are clear of any snow.
