Riders release schedule, opening and closing 2025 CFL season at home

Jan 16, 2025 | 10:56 AM

The wait is over – the Saskatchewan Roughriders have released their schedule for the upcoming 2025 CFL season.

The Green and White will play its first preseason game in Winnipeg on May 24, taking on Saskatchewan’s arch rivals, the Blue Bombers, with a 2 p.m. start. The second preseason match – also against Winnipeg – will be played at Mosaic Stadium on May 30, with kickoff set for 7 p.m.

The Riders will start Week 1 – and open the CFL season – on home turf with a game against the Ottawa Redblacks on Thursday, June 5, with the kickoff set for 7 p.m. This game will mark the earliest regular-season start in the CFL club’s history, beating the June 8 record set last year.

Week 2 will see the Riders heading to Hamilton for a game against the Tiger-Cats on June 14, followed by a trip to Toronto on June 20 in Week 3. After that, the team heads back home to welcome the B.C. Lions to Mosaic Stadium on June 28.

The home schedule includes just one Thursday night game – the opener – and the only Sunday home game will be the 60th Labour Day Classic, played against Winnipeg on August 31.

In a unique twist, this year’s CFL schedule starts and ends with home games for the Riders, as the last regular-season game of the year will see Saskatchewan taking on the B.C. Lions in Regina on October 25.

“This will be the first time in Rider history the CFL season has both started and ended with Saskatchewan home games,” the Roughriders noted in a statement.

“Much like last season, the Roughriders will play every team in the West and East division at least twice, once home and once away.”

This year’s schedule also features five games with family-friendly start times, with games in Weeks 4, 13, 15 and 21 kicking off at 5 p.m. and the Week 11 game against Hamilton starting at 1 p.m.

The Riders will be getting plenty of rest during the regular season this year, the team noted, as there are no game-to-game turnarounds shorter than six days, and nicely spaced bye weeks in Weeks 5, 10 and 16.

The team noted that season tickets are currently at the lowest price of the year, with many ticketing options available.

The full schedule can be viewed below, and ticket information can be found on the Saskatchewan Roughriders’ website.
