London’s calling for 2 Grand In Your Hand winner

London’s calling for this year’s 1050 CJNB’s 2 Grand in Your Hand lucky winner.

“I can’t even believe it,” said Erin Soule.

“I’m very excited, I just thought, ‘Well it’s a nice number of people in the draw so you have a chance, but I’m super excited.”

This year marks the second 2 Grand contest in a row in which someone has decided to use the money for a trip – last year the winner took her family to Scotland – thus creating an elegant symmetry in what seemed like an olive branch between two historical enemies with these bookend trips.

“We are tentatively going in the spring and so, this will go towards buying some Pounds Stirling to go on our trip,” she said.

This year, the annual contest was hosted at Bistro Bliss and sponsored by Valley Ford, Ultra Print, Fisher’s Drug Store, Adora Diamonds, Lazar Equipment – Meadow Lake, Silvester Glass, Century 21 Prairie Elite, Napa Auto Parts, MTS Training School, Bill & Don’s Men’s Wear, Battlefords Flooring Centre, Battle River Treaty 6 Health Centre, The Wireless Age – Meadow Lake, Visual Eyes Optical, Unity Motor Products, Home Hardware – Meadow Lake, Bistro Bliss Restaurant & Bar, Ron’s Plumbing & Heating Ltd., and Meadow Lake Chrysler.

The contest offered devoted listeners of 1050CJNB, 99.3 Beach and Q98 a chance to win the extra cash that could be used for whatever they wished. The winner was selected through a process of elimination by having their names drawn out of a bucket with the help of 1050 CJNB Announcer Grant Schutte and Program Director Nic Fransoo.

Soule said they’ve already got their itinerary planned.

“We want to spend time with our family there and I want to see Big Ben and the River Thames and the White Cliffs of Dover…and the Windsor Castle and all of those things,” she said, noting this will be her first time going to the United Kingdom as an adult.

Now all the winner needed to do was go and tell her family.

“They’re going to be very excited,” she said.

“I’m just going to say, ‘Hey, guess who won that $2,000? And then they’ll say ‘Who?’ And I’ll say, ‘Me!’”
