The Battlefords North Stars had a big bounce back game last night at the Access Communications Centre as they beat the Weyburn Red Wings 9-3, after losing to them 5-4 in a shootout the night prior.

The game started off with a powerplay goal from Anthony Campbell, his 10th of the season, to give Battlefords an early 1-0 first period lead.

But Weyburn answered back in a big way, getting three goals in a row to jump ahead and take a 3-1 lead.

Then with only 5 minutes left in the first period, the North Stars were able to tie it up, getting two goals of their own, coming from Elijah Anderson and Anthony Campbell.

Coming out for the second, the North Stars really started to take control, putting on constant pressure which resulted in two more goals coming from Colton Getzlaff and Jace Rask to give Battlefords a 5-3 lead going into the final period.

For the third period, the flood gates really opened for the North Stars and there was nothing Weyburn could do to stop it as they got four more goals, coming from Elijah Anderson, Rylan Williams, Jorden Grill and Nikita Ivashchenko to make it 9-3 and win the game.

The North Stars outshot the Red Wings 45 to 37, went 3/10 on the powerplay and stopped Weyburn all three times on the penalty kill.

Connor Baumbach had a huge game stopping 34 out of 37 shots while making some highlight reel saves in the process.

Battlefords record now sits at 14-7-3-2 for 33 points on the season and 2nd overall in the league.

The North Stars next games are this Friday, Dec. 13th and Saturday, Dec 14th at the Access Communications as they take on the Flin Flon Bombers in back to back nights.
