It was an action packed exciting game last night at the Access Communications Centre, but the Battlefords North Stars still fell short against the Yorkton Terriers in a shootout.

Battlefords came out hot opening up the game with an early goal in the first, coming from Braden Nienaber to take a 1-0 lead.

The Terriers answered right back though about two minutes after with goal of their own coming from William Leonard on the powerplay to tie it up 1-1.

Then to end off the period the North Stars found a powerplay goal as well from Gavin Granger to take a 2-1 lead.

In the second, it was all Terriers as they got three goals in the period to the North Stars none to take a 4-2 lead going into the third.

Despite trailing by two, the North Stats had no quit in them and continued to fire on all cylinders and claw back coming out for the third period.

In the third, the North Stars found an early goal, again coming from Braden Nienaber to close the gap 4-3.

Then as the third period was coming to an end, it was Colton Getzlaff of the North Stars that found the back of the net to tie the game 4-4 and send it to overtime.

In overtime, both team registered lots of quality shots on goal but no one could light the lamp and the game extended to a shootout.

In the shootout, the Terriers started off scoring on their first two chances and missing on the third one.

This gave the North Stars a chance to tie it up and go on to the fourth shooter as they scored on the first and missed on the second.

So it all came down to Jackson Allan to extend it, but he couldn’t find the back of the net and the Terriers took the game 5-4.

The North Stars outshot the Terriers 50 to 39, went 1/3 on the powerplay and stopped Yorkton one out of two times on the penalty kill.

The North Stars still got one point over the weekend and now sit at 9-5-3 on the season with 21 points and are tied for 4th place in the league.

The next game for the North Stars is Friday November 15th against the Weyburn Red Wings at the Crescent Point Place in Weyburn.
