Terriers topple the North Stars

Nov 8, 2024 | 11:55 PM

The Battlefords North Stars were at the Access Communications Centre Friday night and fell to the Yorkton Terriers 7-2.

The game opened up with a goal from the Terriers in the first period, coming from Dustin Renas on the powerplay to take a 1-0 lead going into the second.

In the second, the Terriers got the first goal coming from Keenan Ingram to extend the lead to 2-0.

But the North Stars answered back, finding the back of the net on a goal from Brett Boucher on the powerplay to make it 2-1.

The North Stars had lots of good chances to score throughout the rest of the second but failed to convert going into the intermission but still seemed to have lots of momentum.

Coming out for the third though, it was the Terriers who came out strong getting three goals within the first seven minutes to extend the lead to 5-1.

The North Stars were able to close the gap a little on a powerplay goal from Braden Nienaber to make it 5-2.

Then to finish off the game, Yorkton got another two goals to make it a final score of 7-2 and win the game.

Battlefords got outshot 43 to 37, went 2/6 on the powerplay and stopped Yorkton four out of seven times on the penalty kill.

The North Stars will have a chance at revenge as they take on the Terriers again Saturday night at the Access Communications Centre with puck drop at 7:30 p.m.
