Typhoid exposure at Martensville pizza restaurant

Nov 5, 2024 | 11:49 AM

Editor’s note: This story was edited on Nov. 18 to make it clear that this was a typhoid ‘exposure.’

The public in Martensville is being encouraged to watch for any symptoms of Typhoid fever.

The Saskatchewan Health Authority(SHA) issued a public service announcement after learning some customers may have been exposed to the bacteria due to consuming products from the Domino’s Pizza, located at 717 Centennial Drive S. in Martensville between October 11 and 19, 2024.

The SHA said symptoms typically develop eight to 14 days after exposure to the salmonella typhi bacteria. The symptoms include fever, constipation, vomiting, general malaise and rash and it can develop into complications. It is spread though eating food and/or water contaminated with the bacteria.

Anyone who consumed food from the restaurant and is experiencing symptoms is asked to seek medical help or call 811 and mention the dates you ate the food.

Typhoid fever infection is rare, and treatable with antibiotics. The risk to those exposed is considered low.
