Loaded homemade firearm and meth among items seized during warrant on Moosomin First Nation

A woman from Moosomin First Nation is facing several drug related charges following an investigation by the RCMP North Battleford Crime Reduction Team – Gang Task Force (CRT-GTF).

On Oct. 30, police executed a search warrant at a home on the First Nation as part of an ongoing investigation into drug trafficking in the Battlefords area. They retrieved a replica firearm, two rifles, a loaded homemade firearm, about 45 grams of methamphetamine, along with small amounts of cocaine and suspected MDMA. Police also seized ammunition, bear spray, a conducted energy weapon and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

Nicole Poitras, 41, made her first court appearance in North Battleford Provincial Court on Nov. 1.

Two others were arrested; 23-year-old Lyle Night of Sauteaux First Nation was taken in on outstanding warrants from Saskatoon for possession of property obtained by crime. He is scheduled to appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Nov. 22.

Forty-one-year-old Malcolm Moccasin of Moosomin First Nation was arrested on outstanding warrants from Battlefords RCMP for charges including possession for the purpose of trafficking, and unlawful possession of a firearm in motor vehicle. He appeared in court on Oct. 31.
