Gas flaring scheduled for RM of North Battleford
Anyone lives in RM of North Battleford may see a 40-foot flame emanating from the flare stack on Oct. 22
SaskEnergy will be running a controlled natural gas flaring from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. at a site adjacent to the SaskPower Yellowhead Power Station, located in the southeast part of North Battleford, approximately 1.5 kilometres south of Highway 16.
The area around the flares will be monitored for public safety, and residential gas service will not be affected. SaskEnergy has notified the City and RM of North Battleford, as well as the local fire department, about this event.
SaskEnergy said flaring is necessary for maintaining the natural gas line system, ensuring safe and reliable service for SaskEnergy customers. During this process, a section of the gas line will be isolated, and natural gas will be safely removed through a controlled burn, reducing carbon emissions by 85 per cent.
