Amber alert cancelled, baby found safe

An Amber Alert issued at the request of Waskesiu RCMP was cancelled shortly after it began.
Waskesiu/Montreal Lake RCMP received a report that a five-day-old baby had been taken by his father from a residence on Montreal Lake Cree Nation just before 2 p.m. Saskatchewan RCMP determined the incident met the criteria for the issuance of an AMBER Alert, so it was issued at approximately 5:08 p.m.
Shortly after the alert was issued, the father turned himself in without incident at the Big River RCMP detachment.The baby appeared healthy and safe but EMS was called to assess him as a precaution.
The investigation continues.
