Cochin Community Players Hosts Book Launch of Debut Novel
Cochin Community Players has added something new to its 2024-25 season—a book launch! On October 6, the theatre group will host a staged reading from Grounds for Murder, debut novel of founding member Betty Ternier Daniels.
Ternier Daniels and her husband Doug, along with Charlotte Lockwood-Baker, Bill Baker, Jean Reader, and Bill Reader, started the club in 1996. Since then, CCP has hosted almost 50 productions, including two written by Ternier Daniels.
“My book launch will be like a radio drama,” Ternier Daniels said, “with one person as the narrator and the other actors reading the parts of the various characters.” She will be joined onstage by veteran performers Clint Barrett, Danielle Barrett, Roxanne Irving, Charlotte Lockwood-Baker, and Jim Walls.
Local audience members will recognize the setting of Grounds for Murder, much of which takes place on a farm in northwest Saskatchewan. Other locations include Saskatoon, North Battleford, and a resort village called Bunchgrass which bears a remarkable resemblance to Cochin.
