UPDATED: Wanted Onion Lake man arrested

UPDATE: At 9:18 a.m. on Aug. 16, Saskatchewan RCMP said they have arrested Valance Wapass, who was wanted on charges including assault causing bodily harm.

The arrest was made by Lloydminster RCMP after a tip from the public helped investigators locate him.

Saskatchewan RCMP are asking for help from the public in locating a wanted man from Onion Lake Cree Nation.

Warrants have been issued for the arrest of 39-year-old Valance Wapass as he is wanted on charges including assault causing bodily harm.

Wapass is described as 6’2” and 205 lbs. with brown eyes and short black hair. He has several tattoos with his last name tattooed on his upper left arm and a feather tattooed on his left wrist. He also has a large visible injury on his face.

Police say he may be travelling in a white minivan and is known to frequent Thunderchild First Nation, Onion Lake Cree Nation, and Lloydminster.

Investigators are asking the public to report all sightings and information on the whereabouts of Wapass to the Saskatchewan RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
