Fire investigators find body in burned out home
Editors note: This story was edited at 1:30 p.m. on June 18 to clarify Saskatchewan RCMP Major Crimes is not currently investigating this fire, as previously reported.
North Battleford firefighters have located human remains inside of a home that burned in the 900 block of 105 Street North.
The fire started Saturday night, but the remains were not discovered until Monday.
The Saskatchewan Public Safety Agency and the Saskatchewan Coroner’s Service are now investigating the incident to determine both the cause of the individual’s death and the fire. Battlefords RCMP continue to monitor and will take over the investigation only if it is determined that the death was criminal in nature.
