Best RV Dealership: Outback RV

Prime camping season is just around the corner and before dreams of travelling the open roads becomes a reality, campers, trailers and recreational vehicles need a bit of spring cleaning themselves.

“I’ve been dealing with transportable housing for the last 35 years,” said Dave Tupling, owner of Outback RV Service and Repair.

The business, now celebrating 15 years and winner of a couple of Best of the Best (BOB) Awards, is the place in town for all your trailer needs. The team works with the coach section only however, as they are not mechanics and therefore do not do maintenance on the drive train.

“We sell parts, and we repair trailers. Horse trailers, flat deck trailers and anything to do with an RV,” said Tupling.

As travelers get set to prepare for another season in the sun, the owner said there are chronic issues that he and the team see on a regular basis.

“Lack of maintenance. Nobody goes up on the roof,” he said.

“When we winterize and when we summarize in the spring, we always go up on the roof and check the roof, make sure that it’s good for the season.”

While atop the trailers, they will often find torn rubber, which leads to leaking and at times whole roofs need to be replaced before the water damage becomes too severe.

“Nobody ever thinks the outside of the trailer needs a whole lot of attention,” he said.

“They think that the silicone’s good, all of that’s good, you don’t ever have to check that.”

New warranties, said Tupling, require a roof and seal check every 90 days.

In addition to on-site service where campers can find everything from lights to cables to roof vents, the team can also take their service on the road anywhere in the province and do repairs from a mobile truck.

“Our business is built on customer service,” he said.

“Customer service is everything.”
