Farm Credit Canada denies rumours its head office is moving out of Sask.

Farm Credit Canada (FCC) says it is not relocating its head office from Regina to Quebec.

FCC is Canada’s largest farm lender and has operated out of Saskatchewan for around 60 years.

In a news release Thursday, the Saskatchewan United Party said the organization is planning to relocate its headquarters.

“Multiple high-level sources have told Sask United that Farm Credit Canada is leaving Saskatchewan and relocating its operations to Quebec,” the political party claimed.

A representative for the FCC said that is simply not the case.

“To be absolutely clear, FCC is not moving its head office from Regina,” a media spokesperson for the organization said in an emailed statement.

“While FCC is a national organization with a national mandate, we value being a part of Regina and share a passion for this community, along with our more than 1,000 FCC employees who call this community home.

“There is a lot of important work ahead for FCC as we serve our customers and the Canadian agriculture and food industry, and that is where our focus remains.”

When asked about the rumoured move by Saskatchewan United Party leader Nadine Wilson during legislative proceedings Thursday, Finance Minister Donna Harpauer denied any knowledge of the possible relocation.

“We have not been apprised of that information, so we don’t have anything to comment on,” Harpauer answered through the Speaker.
