‘Cruel and mean-spirited’: NDP calls out government on paid parking for cancer patients
The story of a Prince Albert man frustrated that hospitals no longer offer free parking for cancer patients has made its way to the provincial legislature.
Last month, paNOW, spoke with Prince Albert City Councillor Dennis Ogrodnick who took to social media to call out the government’s decision to remove free parking passes for those receiving cancer treatment.
“I thought this is wrong like you are under a lot of stress and that extra pay, it adds up and it could become a financial burden and a stressful situation for some patients,” he said after finding out the passes were no longer available.
The Saskatchewan Health Authority (SHA) said the decision was made because they discovered the free passes were being misused.
