Radisson man charged after incident at Sask. RCMP detachment

Apr 10, 2024 | 4:15 PM

Following an incident on Monday at the Warman RCMP detachment, a 51-year-old man from Radisson is facing several charges including assault on a police officer with a weapon and possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

At approximately 11:20 a.m., a vehicle was observed driving directly at the detachment but stopped just before hitting the building.

When officers approached, the lone occupant reportedly exited the vehicle armed with a bladed weapon and began uttering threats.

Officers attempted to de-escalate the situation through several verbal commands but the man did not comply and officers then deployed OC spray, commonly known as pepper spray.

The man was then taken into custody where he was decontaminated and provided with a first aid assessment due to the effects of the OC spray.

Glen Friesen appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court on Tuesday and was remanded to April 11.

In addition to these charges, Friesen was also accused of uttering threats and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.
