Singer-songwriter Caroline Parke, from the Lloydminster area, is asking her fans to show their support so she can get a spot in the International Singer-Songwriters Association (ISSA) awards show coming up in the U.S.

Parke has four pending nominations through the International Singer-Songwriters Association in Atlanta, Georgia, and requires the support of friends, family, and fans. These nominations are awarded to 25 people per category.

“Just getting the nominations is a huge accomplishment for a small independent songwriter such as myself,” she said. “It’s very cool.”

Throughout the month of April, people can vote for their favourite artists daily. Then, the top 10 artists with the most votes will go on to be judged in the awards competition in August.

People can vote for Parke at ISSAsongwriters.com/2024-VOTE .

“I actually was involved in this last year too,” Parke said. “I believe I had six nominations, and I ended up having four of them go to the judges [selection]…. I won one award last year, and I won one the year before. It really is a big deal. I recently changed producers, so this would be pretty big for this new partnership.”

She encourages music lovers who enjoy her songs to vote for her to show their support.

“It’s based on the last 12 months of releases,” Parke said.

The artist, who lives on a ranch near Lloydminster, Alta., with her husband and four children, describes her music as country, folk, and a little bit bluegrass. Her latest album coming out now, called Deep Sigh, is mainly folk. Parke’s most recent project, Pure Imperfection, was released last year. She also released two singles in the past year.

Parke was nominated under the following categories for International Female Artists: Vocalist of the Year, Rising Star, Songwriter of the Year, and Emerging Artist.

“It really opens doors when you can have another excuse to interact with your fan base, and build relationships with people,” Parke said. “I do have some fans down in Kentucky. Last year they had their entire extended family voting for me every day. They are the kindest people. They have sent me honey in the mail a couple of times. I really love it when fans become friends. It’s very special.”

She notes to win an award would be exciting and another boost for her career.

“The nominations are global in the International categories, so it means a lot to me, and it really affirms all the work that I’ve done that it’s recognized by an organization,” Parke said. “This is an elite amount of accomplishment.”
