Violent incident at Red Pheasant results in charge of attempted murder

A 42-year-old man from Red Pheasant Cree Nation is facing a number of charges, including attempted murder, following an incident that happened in the community on Sunday.

Around 11:25a.m., Battlefords RCMP responded to a report a person was assaulted.

The unidentified person was located and taken to hospital with serious injuries.

The accused, who initially provided police with a false name, was later arrested at a residence.

Travis Wuttunee is expected to appear in North Battleford Provincial Court on Tuesday.
