The victim of a homicide in Melfort last weekend is being remembered by her employer.

Danielle Dobersheck worked for North East Outreach and Support Services (NEOSS) at the Treehouse, described as a “short-term, community based home for children who have been apprehended from their home for various reasons.”

Danielle “was not only an exceptional daughter, a devoted mother, and a cherished friend, but also a beacon of light in the NEOSS family who dedicated herself to uplifting children at Treehouse with every shift she worked” the organization said in a statement. “Her presence was a gift, her laughter a melody that filled our hearts with joy. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion, selflessness, and a deep commitment to making the world a better place, one child at a time. Her impact on those she touched will forever be remembered and treasured.”

The organization stated that they should “take solace in the beautiful memories we shared with her, the lessons she imparted, and the love she so generously gave.” The statement went on to state “(t)hough she may no longer be with us in person, her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her.”

The man accused of killing Danielle, Cody Chubey, had been involved in a long-term relationship with her.

A close friend of Dobersheck told paNOW they had been together over 10 years and have 3 children.

He has been remanded into custody until his next court appearance Apr. 4.

Danielle’s funeral was held in Prince Albert Thursday, Mar. 14.

NEOSS will be doing a balloon release in memory of Danielle Dobersheck Friday, Mar.15 at 10 am in the NEOSS parking lot.
