A 22-year-old man from Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation has been charged with the second-degree murder of 32-year-old Dedrick Stick.

The case dates to early February when the Loon Lake RCMP were called to a home on the First Nation following a report of a man being injured. According to the initial police report, a fight broke out between a group of people and Stick, from Island Lake First Nation (Ministikwan), was able to get away to a home next door before succumbing to his injuries.

Investigators have since charged Samuel Kiseyinewakup for Stick’s death and he was in the Prince Albert Provincial Court Monday, March 11 and is remanded tomorrow at 1:30 p.m. for transfer to Big Island Lake Cree Nation.
