Under sunny skies, visitors came out for a day of frivolity and fresh air just like in the days of old at the Western Development Museum’s Heritage Day event.

“We wanted to touch on all the cultures that are happening in North Battleford and Saskatchewan,” said Heather O’Neill, programming and volunteer coordinator.

The first annual event had different activities for the community to enjoy including dog sledding, snowshoeing, archery and even a quilting project.

It’s something that I thought to bring more people here in the winter,” she said noting much of the museum’s events happen throughout the warmer months.

“I thought it would be a way to do something for the community.”

O’Neill explained the day was all about having fun.

“That’s mostly what it was about, just getting out of the house in the middle of winter and doing something different that you maybe haven’t done before.”
